    itinerary guideline

A unique and compact 4 day tour to experience the best of the Garden Route over the 2018 Easter long weekend (30 March to 2 April 2018). This fully-guided once-off Garden Route tour embraces all things wild and wonderful. Meander through many uniquely-different national parks with the chance to spot some of Africa’s Big Five. Delve deep into the underground Cango Caves network. Take the plunge on an optional bungee jump and whizz through the forest on a zip-line. Canoe through Wilderness National Park or swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Add in hiking in Tsitsikamma National Park and a spot of wine tasting along Route 62 and you have yourself an absolutely phenomenal 4 days that await…

    Travel route ± 470 km
Start with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Cape Town. Leave the silhouette of Table Mountain behind and trade it for the lush green scenery of the Garden Route. On your first stop of the day, spot some of Africa’s wild animals from the back of an open 4x4 vehicle in a malaria-free private game reserve. Among the dense coastal renosterveldt and Cape fynbos, search for giraffe, white rhino, kudu, lion, elephant, zebra and wildebeest, to name a few. Spend the evening soaking in the slow town way of life in Sedgefield. Check out the rustic beach restaurant and feel the white sand between your toes as you sip on cocktails, or venture into town for a more intimate dinner.

-Overnight in Wilderness / Sedgefield area

    Travel route ± 230 km
Nestled between forested mountains, visit The Heads where the sea crashes through two massive sandstone cliffs.
Optional bungee jumping - face your fears as you bungee from the world’s highest bungee jumping bridge or watch the adrenaline junkies as they scream through the air. If you don't want to do the bungee experience, you can visit the 1000 year old Big Tree in Tsitsikamma forest.
Walk along forest trails in Tsitsikamma National Park, exploring this marine reserve with its unique combination of dramatic coastal and forest landscapes. Zigzag across the river gorge along zip-line cables and experience nature from a different angle. (Optional at extra cost). Rest up for the evening with a bird's-eye view in Plettenberg Bay.
    - Overnight in Plettenberg Bay

    Travel route ± 200 km
Set off from Plettenberg Bay in the crisp morning air to travel to Wilderness National Park where you will take to the water for a leisurely canoe along the reed-lined banks of the Touws River. Then, journey through the landscape of rugged plains and towering cliffs to reach Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, situated in the semi-desert Klein Karoo. It is here where you can opt for a close encounter with Mother Nature and join rangers on an optional Elephant Bush Walk. Gentle giants, Jabari, Malaika and Bulelo made Buffelsdrift their home after their parents were poached in the north of South Africa. Join these three rescued elephants as they walk to the nearby waterhole. Spend the evening at leisure in Oudtshoorn, taste local delights, such as an ostrich kebab at a 'braai' (similar to bbq) under the vast twinkling starry skies.
    - Overnight in Oudtshoorn

    Travel route ± 420 km
This morning will see you delving deep underground into the magical Cango Cave’s limestone chambers, alive with drip formation stalactites and stalagmites and remnants of Khoikhoi paintings. After your morning adventure, it’s time to head back to Cape Town along the famous Route 62, modelled after America’s Route 66, but with a distinctly local flavour. Route 62 is more than just burgers and beers, farm stalls or small country towns, the highway is also the longest wine route in the Western Cape. So oenophiles will be in their element with a wine pit stop to sample Port-style wines en route to Cape Town.
