Sabi Sand

South Africa

Sabi Sand is a group of game reserves flanking the Kruger National Park in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, South Africa. This privately owned group of game reserves has a giant reputation for luxury and especially for serving up some of the best close-up leopard encounters in all of the Kruger area. Sharing a 50km long unfenced boundary with the famous Kruger National Park, Sabi is listed amongst National Geographic's 'Unique Lodges of the World' and is named for the Sabie River on its southern boundary and the Sand River which runs through the 65,000-hectare property. The rivers are vital in the dry season and create an eco-system with abundant biodiversity including 145 mammal species, 500 bird species, 110 reptile species, 30 amphibian species, 330 tree species and 45 different fish species.

Subsequently, this region is one of the most prolific wildlife areas in the world and the exclusive 33-acre Singita reserve is one of the largest of the Sabi Sand private reserves. For big cat lovers, it’s a must - an astonishing 9,000 sightings of 142 individual leopards were recorded in the Sabi Sand region in 2016 alone. Unashamedly luxe, Sabi Sand is also the birthplace of sustainable eco-tourism in Southern Africa and one of the oldest private reserves in South Africa. The property boasts an enviable collection of the most prestigious safari lodges in Africa and the luxury of choice when it comes to choosing the perfect accommodation for you.
