company

Established in 2007, Hotspots2c has grown to be one of South Africa’s favourite tour operators. Based in the Cape Town region, we offer scheduled group, private and tailor-made tours primarily to the Western Cape along the Garden Route, Addo and Kruger National Park and beyond.

Hotspots2c is the brainchild of Western Cape local, Johan Du Toit – a seasoned globetrotter who has travelled to more than 60 countries to date. We are owner-operated and offer easy and affordable touring options. Our passengers enjoy the convenience of a small tour and the luxury of choice - from activity options to where you stay.

At Hotspots2c, we do not want to be the largest tour operator in South Africa; we simply want to show off our beautiful country the best way we know. Being privately owned gives us independence and flexibility and is a competitive advantage in our quality control and accountability. We pay meticulous attention to itineraries and tap into our creativity when we plan our tours. Our bespoke itineraries and own luxury vehicle fleet can accommodate any group size to visit your preferred destination in Southern Africa.

Behind-the-scenes, our dedicated team has a cumulative industry experience of more than 150 years.

We are a unified company that believes travel is more than just visiting a place but it's about building relationships, making a positive change and about giving back to the community. That’s why we established our charity arm, 2cChange in 2016 to help achieve our goal in making a positive difference in the areas we travel through.

Johan du Toit
Owner & Founder

Travel was always something I wanted to do growing up and my first travel-related job was as a tour guide in Europe. From there I have gone on to travel to 60 countries and have lived in Australia, Scotland and France. When I started Hotspots2c it was pretty much just me and my bus, and the support of my family. When I’m not focused on work I’m with my family or can be found practising my French or reading with a glass of wine.

Marc Whitmill
Marketing Director

I believe that hard work, determination and passion will take you where you want to go, and if you don’t apply those things to what you’re doing, then you shouldn’t be doing it. That's why, after my first job as a travel consultant in London back in 1999, I still find myself in the travel industry. When I'm not drinking beer I can usually be found participating in or training for an endurance event; cooking up gourmet dishes, or travelling through the Cape Winelands.

Gerhard Pretorius
Tour Guide

Before I became a guide with Hotspots2c I spent many years training tour guides, so it’s safe to say that I LOVE the travel industry. I love being on the road and getting to see all that our beautiful country has to offer. While I am a scuba-diving enthusiast, I also love South Africa’s Kruger National Park and all it has to offer, we really do have something special in this country. Internationally, I’d have to say that Singapore is a firm favourite.

Paul Barker
Tour Guide

After years of being a tour guide in South Africa I enjoy exploring old favourite spots or discover new locations. I absolutely love the diversity that comes with the travel industry and always keen to showoff our beautiful country.

Uriel de Wee
Tour Guide / Ops Assistant

I love to seek out adventure and do everything I can for a challenge. Travel is one of the most rewarding ways to adventure and our world has so many unexplored places. Luckily for us, our beautiful country also has some serious gems. Tsitsikamma is one of my personal favourite local spots to explore, so many opportunities to hike, cycle and adventure, my cup of tea.

Isaac Matlakeng
Tour Guide

Having been in the travel industry for 17 years I have come to know and love South Africa and all that it has to offer. I enjoy the easy going lifestyle and the rich culture. Traditional African music is one of my loves in life, as well as different languages, I can speak 11 local languages. If I’m not conversing in a foreign language I’m probably cracking jokes on the tennis court. I love making people feel at home in South Africa.

Maudi Hlongwana
Tour Guide

I have worked in the travel industry from 2004 and my passion for travelling has only grown as the time has gone by. Locally, my favourite spot would have to be Durban, in Kwa-Zulu Natal, but if you lose me abroad, I’ll be enjoying the beaches of Mozambique’s Nyambane. I love sports, especially golf, and watching other people experience our beautiful country.

Tammy-lee

My passion for hiking gave me a deep appreciation for being surrounded by nature... With some of my local and international must-visit outdoor spots already ticked off from my travel wishlist, I'll always be dreaming about my next adventure. Being part of the travel industry since 2016, especially my recent position as an airline ticketing and customer care consultant; helping fellow travellers plan their perfect holiday perfectly aligns with my love to share our uniquely diverse cultures and places with the world. - Tammy Mackriel

2cChange NPO

Travel and Tourism is what I have a passion for, and studied it at University. From there I went on to work as a guesthouse manager, then on to work at a wine farm, and eventually joined Hotspots2c in 2013. Here my role has changed and developed, just as the company has. I now run the company’s non-profit organsitation – 2Cchange. It is fantastic to see how we are able to give back to the communities that we work closely with and travel through, simply by showing-off our beautiful country.

I truly believe in karma and therefore believe that a person should always do the right thing – which I try to do every day at work and in my personal life. I also like to keep busy, and managing our guides and the logistics of all of our tours definitely does that. I really enjoy all kinds of sports, and keeping fit, which I think makes me better at everything that I do.

Liezel de Klerk
Tour Guide

I am a firm believer that we should go wherever the journey takes us. As an avid mommy-adventurer, I love discovering places right on our own doorstep. The Cape winelands are most definitely up there near the top of my list, as well as the many picturesque coastal treasures we have here in South Africa. A strong contender for my favourite international destination would have to be Thailand’s many islands!

Amanda Willemse
Logistics Trip Co-ordinator

Hotspots2c is my first travel job and I have loved every second of it. Even when it feels like I’m juggling balls of fire with my feet, while standing on my head. On the days that I’m not doing that, I am usually with family and friends, or busy helping to organise activities with my church (more juggling balls of fire). When I do have some time to myself though, I can be found spending hours completing crossword puzzles.

Koos Avenant
Tour Guide

I have a very long history in the travel industry, exploring and guiding through the Cango Caves from when I was a mere 14 years old! Since then my love for travel has only grown, fueled by this spectacular country that I get to call home. My favourite destinations are the ones I have yet to explore and I am always up for an adventure. When I am not on the road, I love gardening, building projects and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Travel is a true passion of mine, as are people - and being a Hotspots2c guide affords me the privilege of living out both of these passions together! There’s nothing quite as cool as getting to explore incredible places with people and watch as they experience it all for the first time, making memories that will last a lifetime! They say “Do what you love, so that you can love what you do” and boy are they right!

Denver Alexander
Tour Guide

A people’s person at heart, I absolutely love the aspect of meeting people and having the chance to make a difference in local communities as we travel. I love going the extra mile to make a difference. When I’m not on the road, you’ll find me at my local church serving the community or planning my next trip.

Catherine Barnard
Financial Officer

A lover of systems, numbers, (and wine), I am a true accountant at heart. I love bringing order and knowing that the finances at Hotspots2c are perfectly taken care of, while maintaining the balance and letting my hair down from time to time! When it’s time to unwind, I take to the trails and absolutely love training for endurance races and pushing my limits!

TK Thembelani Kwaza
Tour Guide

I am very interested in how people's environment, culture affect them personally. I love seeing someone experience something new for the first time in their life, but it's even more rewarding if I've help them experience it. I love South Africa and evolve and grow with our country. Travel is one of the best educations available, so one day I dream of running educational tours for students across our beautiful country. To me, travel is about connecting with people and nature, a connection more genuine can't be found.

Benita Stroebel
Custom Journeys

When I started my profession in hospitality; working as a guesthouse manager for many years - I've always been involved in creating personalised experiences for guests to make the stay extra special. This has grown into my work passion and as a journey designer I love being able to create customer specific tailored trips that will be remember for the rest of their lives. In between my day job, I also create my own memories and test out experiences by spending time with my family (usually on the beach) and as a novice photographer; love to capturing it all on camera.

Travelling the world (over 40 countries so far) - especially jungle or island destinations inspires me. If I’m not behind my MacBook curating, uploading or editing travel content, I'm on the lookout for new adventures. Growing up on a farm near the Namibian border instilled a deep passion for the great outdoors, so being close to nature will always be my happy-place.

Sisipho Coetzee
Logistics Assistant

Growing up, I loved family road trips for the weekend to explore the beautiful places around us. This instilled a love for travel and since then the travel and tourism industry has always interested me. As a true nature-lover, if i'm not hiking at Jonkershoek with friends, you'll probably find me spending quality time with family and freinds outdoors.

Yolanda Smit
Tour Consultant

I'm an enthusiastic and sociable adventurer who thrives on dynamic energy. With 13 countries in my travel history, Bali holds the second spot in my favorites. I adore tropical island destinations, but my roots in South Africa run deep. I'm a keen explorer, always seeking out new experiences. I adore outdoorsy active activities like running, beach walks, and stand-up paddleboarding - especially as I live on the West Coast, but you'll often find me vine-hopping in the Franschhoek valley on weekends for wine tasting adventures with my husband too.

Sonia Van Wyk
Tour Consultant

I'm a traveller at heart and soul with years of extensive experience in the industry. I've had the privilege of working as a Flight Operations Agent for Emirates, Air France, and KLM Airways and my passion for the travel industry stems from the belief that it enriches us with skills and cherished memories. I've already explored 15 countries and Sri Lanka, and our West Coast also holds a special place in my heart. When not working, I enjoy surfing, road trips, and hiking, connecting with nature.

Darryl Kock
Operations Assistant

As an adventurer at heart; I've gained valuable experience working at the airport, assisting customers to the boarding gate and ensuring smooth luggage operations.. this sparked my love for travel. I haven't left South Africa yet, but exploring new spots is my jam. The Western Cape is where it's at for me, especially George and Knysna. Family ties and the epic wilderness route make them extra special. Off the clock, you'll find me kicking it in soccer games or soaking up the outdoors, be it hiking or cruising on four wheels or two.

Gail
Reservation & Finance Assistant

With years of service as a reservation manager in the travel (car hire) industry, I still love sharing our beautiful country with the world. My travels to England, Italy, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Switzerland have each left a unique impression, with Monaco's Grand Prix holding a special place in my heart. Locally, Fairview Wine Estate (satisfying my passion for cheese, wine and good company) and The Beacon Isle Hotel in Plettenberg Bay for cherished family holidays. Ultimately, my happiness stems from socializing with friends and family, regardless of the event or activity.

Leandré van der Merwe
Business Operations Coordinator

Passionate travel enthusiast meets culture-loving explorer. My love for travel stems from its unique blend of adventure and connection with people. Although my international travels have been limited to Bali and Mauritius so far, I'm passionate and excited to see more of the world. Island destinations have always been a favourite and visiting Santorini is high on my list. Locally, I love adventuring in Kruger, the Garden Route, Drakensberg mountains and definitely our Cape Winelands.

I'm also a bit of an adrenaline junkie, having bungee jumped and completed an advanced driving course. As a mother of three, I balance my adventurous spirit with family time, creating a life filled with excitement and most importantly, meaningful connections.
